Event Details

The North Coast Innovation Lab (NCIL) team invites you to our community presentations on Wednesday, August 22nd from 7-9pm in the Coast Mountain College multi-purpose room. We will be sharing  findings, activities and future directions for the program as this summer comes to an end.

This event will feature presentations by Kara Herbert and Rabia Ahmed, Masters Students and Project Coordinators who have conducted research and feasibility work this summer around enhancing coworking, information sharing and resource sharingand growing the local economy for fish and marine products.

Rabia will present her findings around the challenges and potential solutions for improving access to fish and marine products here in Prince Rupert. Specifically, she will explain different models for connecting local fish harvesters with Rupertites; the challenges associated with fish markets and selling fish locally; and the needs and opportunities around seafood literacy and cooking workshops to improve access, nutrition, and awareness of seafood products.

Kara will share her findings into the needs of micro-businesses, artisans, and other small-scale entrepreneurs; solutions explored such as capacity building workshops and pop-up markets; and the feasibility of establishing a shared work space in Prince Rupert.

Refreshments will be provided and time will be made for discussion and audience participation. All are welcome to attend – we hope to see you there!
