Event Details

Hello from CBC Prince Rupert!

To many Rupertites, the CBC studio has been a fixture in town their whole lives… even if they haven’t had a chance to peek inside. This year it seems like a good time to share a little of our long history in the community with you.

We are having an Open House on Friday, June 10 from 8:00am – 12:00pm and welcome everyone to come down and see us!

Why the Open House now?

CBC Radio has been broadcasting out of Prince Rupert since 1953 (some of our well established audience may remember the old broadcasting centre on Stiles Place), and in the 1980’s CBC moved to our current 3rd Avenue studio. The 80’s was a great decade, but after 30 years it was finally time for a refresh. Our open house is to celebrate the major overhaul of the local studio, and right in time for the 38th Annual Seafest.

CBC Prince Rupert and our number one morning program, Daybreak North, are now equipped with the latest broadcasting technology in a genuinely community space. Prince Rupert and its stories remain a vital component of Canadian broadcasting. We feel that our new studio is evidence of that important role.
